New Jersey resident Juan Marales, age 41, of the township of Edison in Middlesex, was arrested in Norwalk on Thursday, Oct. 5.
According to Lt. Tomasz Podgorsk, of the Norwalk Police, members of the detective bureau were contacted by the Fugitive Task Force from the Prosecutor’s Office of Somerset County, New Jersey to assist with locating a wanted fugitive from their jurisdiction.
Norwalk detectives began investigating the whereabouts of Marales who was wanted for five active warrants:
- Second-degree burglary
- Two counts of third-degree failure to register as a sex offender
- Second-degree endangering/abuse/neglect of a child
- Third-degree aggravated assault on a correctional/sheriff’s officer.
Norwalk detectives were able to track Marales to the Red Carpet Inn, 469 Westport Ave., where he was taken into custody without incident.
He is being held on a $1 million bond.
